Commemorative Award Ceremony and Special Lecture by Dr. Terumi Tanaka

Nihon Hidankyo, also known as the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in December 2024.

Dr. Terumi Tanaka, Co-Chairperson of Nihon Hidankyo, had the distinguished opportunity to speak at the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony. In recognition of his lifelong dedication and his contributions as a former faculty member at Tohoku University, the university is proud to present him with the university's International Award. Alongside the commemorative award ceremony, Dr. Tanaka will deliver a speech titled A Message to the Next Generation: Paving the Way for a Peaceful Future.

Please join us for this momentous event as Dr. Tanaka shares his personal experience as a survivor of the Nagasaki atomic bombing and speaks about the organization’s efforts toward the abolition of nuclear weapons.

At Dr. Tanaka's request, we especially wish to convey this message to the younger generation, including our university students and elementary, junior high, and high school students. We encourage you to invite your family to this event.

For English speakers, simultaneous interpretation from Japanese to English will be available. Please register through the English link.
