人間社会情報科学専攻Department of Human-Social Information Sciences 39■研究キーワード■■KEYWORDS ■The Laboratory of Linguistic Information aims at elucidating the nature of the language faculty thatenables us to use natural languages. The language faculty includes a huge amount of unconsciousknowledge about the sound and meaning of words and sentence structures. We have to clarify (i)when and how it occurred in our brain and (ii) what the relation between the language faculty and thenonlinguistic cognitive systems is like. Among the theories tackling these general questions, we willmainly devote ourselves to the following fields:(1) Syntax: Exploration of the nature of the innate and universal linguistic competence and theproperties of individual languages and of their relation to the extra-linguistic cognitive systems, throughthe theoretical and empirical investigation of the syntactic structure of natural language and thecomparison of typologically distinct languages.(2) Formal Semantics: Explication of the mechanisms of semantic interpretation, the forms of semanticrepresentations, and their correspondence to conceptual structures, through the theoretical andempirical investigation of the relation between syntactic and semantic structures.(3) Relations with Other Cognitive Systems: Inquiry into the relation between language faculty as abiological subsystem and other cognitive systems relevant to vision, thought, context recognition, andemotion.Syntax, Semantics and Cognitive Systems私たちは、母語の音や意味、語彙や文の構造などについての無意識の知識を膨大に持っています。しかし、幼児期に母語を習得するために何ら特別な訓練を受けたわけではありませんし、また、本来習得できないはずの知識も数多くあります。自然言語の使用を可能にしているこの言語知識の総体は「言語機能」と呼ばれます。この言語機能は、いつ、どのように私たちの脳に備わったのでしょうか。また、言語機能と言語以外の認知能力との関係はどのようになっているのでしょうか。言語情報学の分野では、言語機能の内容について、その形式的側面のモデルである種々の言語理論を理論的かつ実証的に批判検討することを通じて解明することを目指しています。具体的な研究対象は、おもに次の通りです。1） 統語論: 自然言語の統語構造に関する理論的・実証的研究、および類型論的に異なる諸言語の比較を通じて、人間に生得的な言語能力の普遍性、および各言語の個別文法を探る。2） 形式意味論: 統語構造と意味との対応関係に関する理論的・実証的研究を行うことにより、意味解釈のメカニズム、意味表示の形式、概念構造との対応について解明する。3） 認知システムでの言語の役割: 　広く認知システム全体の中で、生物システムとしての言語が視覚、思考、文脈理解、感情などにかかわる他の認知システムとどのような関係を持っているかを探る。統語論、意味論、認知システムAssoc.
